Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge on Tuesday said that the "mandate is against PM Modi". Welcoming the results of the Lok Sabha 2024 elections, Kharge stated that the results are the victory of democracy. Humbly accepting the public opinion, the Congress chief slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi saying that the outcome is "against Modi". He further said the results were a "political and moral" defeat for the Prime Minister and his party.

"The election results were announced today. This is the public's result and the public's and democracy's victory. We had been saying that this battle is between the public and Modi. We humbly accept the people's mandate. This time, the public did not complete majority to any one party, especially, the ruling party BJP sought votes on the basis of 'one person, one face'. This is their political and moral defeat," Kharge said.

"Our fight has not reached its conclusion. People were convinced that if Modi ji got another chance, democracy and the constitution would be attacked," he added.
