Hours after the Congress party released its manifesto on Friday, BRS working president KT Rama Rao mocked Congress for promising to amend the Tenth Schedule of the Constitution to ensure automatic disqualification of MLAs/MPs if they defect party. KTR welcomed the proposal in the manifesto but accused the party of hypocrisy citing instances in Telangana. Further, he challenged Rahul Gandhi to make the defectors of BRS resign or face disqualification.

KTR also accused Congress of historically promoting the culture of political defections in India, known as "Aaya Ram, Gaya Ram," but now claiming a change of heart. Taking to X, KTR on Congress manifesto said, "Congress party, which is the mothership that promoted the “Aaya Ram, Gaya Ram” culture of political defections in India seems to have had a Big change of heart. Welcome their noble proposal of on amending 10th schedule to ensure automatic disqualification of MLAs/MPs if they defect party."

However, he accused Congress of preaching something and doing the exact opposite of it in terms of practice. He said, "In Telangana, recently they have announced an MP ticket to one BRS MLA and also admitted another BRS MLA, both of whom are still hanging on to their seats."

To Rahul Gandhi, he challenged, "Why don’t you demonstrate that you are not a party of hypocrites? Make both these defectors resign or have the speaker disqualify & prove to the country that you practice what you preach."
