Responding to developments since the morning, senior Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh said on Wednesday that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is attempting to topple the Congress government in the hill state.
Addressing a press conference, Ramesh said: "The people of Himachal had rejected Modi, NRADA, Anurag Thakur, Jairam Thakur. Congress is facing Operation Lotus. The in-charge has talked to Kharge ji this morning".
He further said that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharege has asked the observers to coordinate with all the MLAs. It is to be noted that Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, former Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda, and in-charge Rajeev Shukla are present in the hill state.
The Congress leader also assured that accountability for cross-voting will be established in Himachal Pradesh's Rajya Sabha election.
"They (the aforementioned top Congress leaders) spoke with the Congress president. He has directed them to meet and listen to all MLAs' grievances and demands. Cross-voting took place. But the conspiracy to topple the Congress government, what steps will the party take to deal with this 'Operation Lotus' - the Congress president has told these senior colleagues to meet with everyone, listen to what they have to say, and present him with a report as soon as possible," Ramesh said.
Sukhu Denies Resigning From CM Post:
Denying the reports of his resigning from the CM post, Sukhu, said, "There are reports in some media houses that the CM has resigned. I want to clarify that I haven't resigned."
"I am a warrior. We will prove our majority during the Budget Session. I also want to make it clear that the Congress government will complete its full 5-year term," Sukhu told reporters.
