A big surprise is emerging from the high-profile constituency of Faizabad where the Ayodhya Ram Mandir was built and inaugurated in a grand event earlier this year as Bharatiya Janata Party's candidate Lallu Singh was trailing Samajwadi Party’s Awadesh Prasad. The saffron camp was likely to emerge victorious in the constituency in Faizabad constituency but the recent trends of the Lok Sabha election results portray something else. According to the recent trends:

  • Awadhesh Prasad- 256073

  • Lallu Singh - 247561

BJP's Lallu Singh was trailing SP's Awadesh Prasad in Faizabad. According to the Election Commission, Lallu Singh is trailing Awadesh Pradesh in Faizabad by a sleek margin over 4,000 votes in a tight contest. In another big surprise, the underdog, I.N.D.I.A bloc, is leading the BJP in the saffron heartland. Uttar Pradesh had emerged as the bastion of the saffron party since 2014. Coming extremely opposite of the exit polls, which predicted a landslide victory of the BJP in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress-led coalition is leading in 42 Lok Sabha seats. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is leading in 37 seats.

I.N.D.I.A bloc constituting the SP and the Congress are leading in 34 and eight seats, respectively.

Notably, Uttar Pradesh sends the most number of members to the Lok Sabha at 80. The stalwarts of both the BJP and Samajwadi Party are expected to sail through. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is leading in Varanasi, and Rajnath Singh is leading in Lucknow, a seat which former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has held.

Akhilesh Yadav, the Samajwadi Party supremo, and his wife Dimple Yadav are leading in Kannauj and Mainpuri, respectively.

Rahul Gandhi and Kishori Lal Sharma, the Congress candidates, are expected to win Rae Bareli and Amethi, respectively.

Arun Govil and Hema Malini of the BJP lead in Meerut and Mathura as well.

Senior BJP leaders Smriti Irani, Ajay Mishra Teni, Maneka Gandhi, and Anupriya Patel of the Apna Dal (S) are trailing in Amethi, Kheri, Sultanpur, and Mirzapur.
