Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Wednesday questioned the credibility of the Enforcement Directorate over the video of Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar’s son where he purportedly talked about some financial transactions.
In a veiled reference to the summons by ED to Gehlot’ son Vaibhav Gehlot in a foreign exchange violation case, the Rajasthan CM said, “The entire country can see his video but there is no action from ED, he was not even questioned and you (agencies) are entering the houses of other people's sons and harassing them. ED's credibility is going down."
A series of videos of Tomar’s son, Devendra Tomar went viral on social media where he was purportedly discussing some financial transactions.
According to reports, in the first video Tomar was having a conversation with a man apparently of a transaction of Rs 100 crore. Tomar could be seen asking the man in the video to inform him when the transaction is completed, as per reports.
In a second video, Tomar was seen having a conversation again with the same man about some monthly payments involving Rs 50 crore, Rs 100 crore or 500 crore.
The Congress intensified its attack against Narendra Tomar — BJP candidate from MP's Dimni seat — after a third video emerged where a man identifying himself as Jagmandeep Singh, a resident of Abbotsford, Canada, and claimed that he was the voice in two earlier videos, according to a Hindustan Times report.
The Bharatiya Janata Party has, however, dismissed the videos as fake. Tomar termed the video a “conspiracy” against him and his son and demanded a Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) examination of the videos to find the truth.
