Delhi minister Atishi on Monday hit out at the BJP calling Arvind Kejriwal an idea and defended the Delhi CM operating from jail saying the CM need to give his resignation only if he is sentenced to more than two years in jail.

"The law is very clear. If you are sentenced to more than two years in jail only then you need to give your resignation. We have already specified that Arvind Kejriwal was, is and will continue to be the chief minister of Delhi," Atishi said, according to PTI.

The Delhi minister said that though one Arvind Kejriwal can be put in jail, but thousands of Arvind Kejriwal would emerge in the country.

"Arvind Kejriwal is an idea. You can put one Arvind Kejriwal in jail but thousands of Arvind Kejriwal would emerge in the country after being inspired by him," Atishi said.

She said that the Aam Aadmi Party is starting a social media campaign to ensure that Kejriwal's inspiration reaches all parts of the country. She said that all AAP leaders and volunteers will change their profile picture on X, Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media accounts with the new one showing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal behind the bars captioned Modi Ka Sabse Bada Dar Kejriwal.

"To ensure that Arvind Kejriwal's inspiration reaches all parts of the country, we are starting a DP campaign on social media today... All the leaders, MLAs and workers of Aam Aadmi Party will change their DPs," Atishi added.

Kejriwal is the only leader in the country who can challenge Prime Minister Narendra Modi so he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate without any evidence just after the announcement of Lok Sabha polls, Atishi said.

She claimed the ED could not produce even one Paisa of evidence despite its two-year-long probe into the alleged excise scam.

The statement comes a day after Atishi along with other AAP leaders participated in a candle march in New Delhi's Kondli area to protest against the arrest.

Atishi alleged that the BJP and Modi want to crush Kejriwal and added that the AAP was waging a battle against dictatorship in the country. She urged people to join the social media DP campaign of the party saying saving the democracy and the Constitution was not just Kejriwal's fight.

Aam Aadmi Party workers have been protesting across the national capital in protest against the arrest of their leader, Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal was arrested by the ED from his residence on Thursday night in a money laundering case linked to the now-scrapped Excise Policy case.
