In response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's assertion that JD(S) is the BJP's B team, former Prime Minister and JD(S) president H.D. Deve Gowda remarked on Friday, "Yes, I am the BJP's B team leader. So what?"

During his recent visit to Karnataka, Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi criticized Deve Gowda, stating that he had previously warned the people that JD(S) was the BJP's B team, but now they have even formed an alliance.

Speaking at a gathering in the Kolar Parliamentary seat in support of NDA candidate Mallesh Babu, Gowda highlighted the challenges faced by the people, particularly concerning basic amenities like drinking water in Bengaluru, despite the assurances made by the Congress government elected in the last Assembly election.

Deve Gowda, as per IANS, said, "The Ettinahole project to provide water to the region was sanctioned by then Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar during the tenure of the BJP government. The pipes laid for the project are rusting now. The Congress is not giving priority to the project."

Deve Gowda added that following the Lok Sabha elections, the Congress government would no longer hold power, according to the report.

Deve Gowda reflected on his current age of 93 and recalled his challenge to PM Modi in 2014, which resulted in his defeat. He said, "I was ready to submit my resignation as I had challenged. However, Prime Minister Modi told me that I should be in the Parliament as my experience was needed."

He remarked that Prime Minister Modi possesses the conviction to secure 400 Lok Sabha seats this time.

As Karnataka approaches the upcoming elections, the state is embroiled in several political controversies. The voting in Karnataka is scheduled for the second and third phases on April 26 and May 7.
