ABP-CVoter Snap Poll: Unemployment, Inflation Among Key Concerns Of Voters In Rajasthan, MP And C'garh — Details

Ahead of elections, a survey by ABP-CVoter asked respondents in Rajasthan, MP and Chhattisgarh on the factors that could decide the poll outcome and the survey threw up some interesting numbers.

With the poll bandwagon rolling into Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh after the announcement of the dates by the Election Commission (EC), the focus is as much on the contesting parties as the people, who will be the ultimate arbiter on who would take the hustings on the result day.

Even as the ruling party in all three states have unleashed a charm offensive on the people, underlining their welfare schemes and initiatives while promising more, if elected, the Opposition players have been taking pot shots at the ruling dispensation accusing them of not doing nearly enough to make a difference to people’s lives.

Ahead of the elections, a survey by ABP-CVoter asked respondents in these three states to pick one issue among inflation, unemployment, law and order, farmer and corruption in the agriculture sector, caste census, overall development, communal harmony, and others, which is likely to determine the poll outcome.

The survey threw up some rather intriguing numbers.

Of the total people quizzed in poll-bound Rajasthan, 19.9 per cent said inflation would be the most important issue in the upcoming elections, 25.4 per cent opined it would be inflation, 15.3 per cent said law and order, 4.6 per cent said caste census, 4.3 per cent of the respondents said communal harmony would be key factor, 9.1 per cent said farm issues, 5.5 per cent said corruption, 8.7 per cent said overall development, and 2.7 per cent said other issues would eventually decide the poll outcome. Another 4.6 per cent of the voters said they did not have any opinion on the subject.

In Madhya Pradesh, of the total respondents, 30.4 per cent said inflation would be one of the major issues that would decide the electoral fortunes, 26.6 per cent said unemployment, 11.2 per cent said law and order, 4 per cent said caste census, 2 per cent said communal harmony, 10 per cent said farm issues would decide the poll outcome, 3.8 per cent said corruption, 6.3 per cent said overall development, 2.5 per cent said other issues would be the key factors in deciding the fate of the candidates. However, 3.1 per cent said they did not have any opinion.

In Chhattisgarh, 24.7 per cent of the voters surveyed said inflation would be a major factor, 22.2 per cent said unemployment, 10 per cent said law and order, 5.7 per cent said caste census, 3.7 per cent said communal harmony, 9.4 per cent said farm issues, 6 per cent said corruption, 10.8 per cent said overall development of the state, 1.8 per cent said other issues would be crucial in deciding the outcome. Another 5.5 per cent of the voters asked said they did not have an opinion on the subject.

[Disclaimer: This survey was based on CVoter personal interviews conducted among 2,649 adults across India. Sometimes the table figures do not sum to 100 due to the effects of rounding off. The margin of error is +/- 3% at the macro level and +/- 5% at the micro level. We believe this will give the closest possible resemblance to the trends.]
