The ABP-CVoter Karnataka Opinion Poll has projected 115-127 seats for the Congress, 68-80 seats for the BJP, and 23-35 seats for the JD(S).

31-Seat Hyderabad Region Projected To Go To Congress

The Congress and the BJP are projected to get 44% and 37% of the votes in the Hyderabad-Karnataka region. In terms of seats, the Congress is likely to trump the BJP, winning 19-23 seats. The BJP could win 8-12 constituencies in the region.



Congress Predicted To Win Mumbai-Karnataka Region

In the 50-seat Mumbai-Karnataka region, which shares a border with Maharashtra the BJP and the Congress are projected to garner 43% of the vote share each. However, the Congress is projected to win 25-29 seats, whereas the BJP has been predicted to win 21-25 seats. This is a Lingayat-majority area.



BJP Scores High In Coastal Karnataka, But Opinion Poll Predicts Close Contest With Congress

The BJP is likely to rake in 46% of the votes in Coastal Karnataka, while the Congress is projected to get the support of 41% voters.  JD(S) is unlikely to get more than 6% of the total vote share. This is the smallest region in Karnataka, with just 21 seats. In terms of seats, BJP is likely to be locked in a neck-and-neck battle with Congress, with a 9-13 seat projection for the saffron party. The latter is likely to between 8 and 12 seats.



BJP Trails In Central Karnataka, Congress Ahead in Opinion Poll

The BJP is projected to get 38% of the votes in Central Karnataka, which is considered to be a bastion of the saffron party. The Congress is likely to rake in 41% of the votes. In terms of seats, the BJP is projected to win 12-16 seats in the 35-seat region, while the Congress is likely to get 18-22 seats. JD(S) is unlikely to get more than 2 seats in this region.




 





JD(S) Sure To Win Polls, Says HD Kumaraswamy

Former CM HD Kumaraswamy is confident of winning the Karnataka polls this year. "Kannadigas have decided to elect a regional party. This time they will reject both national parties, says JD(S) leader HD Kumaraswamy," he said.





Congress Ranks High In Old Mysuru Region

The survey projected a 20% vote share for BJP and 36% for Congress in the 55-seat Old Mysuru region. Translated to seats, the survey projected 26-27 seats for the JD(S) and 24-28 seats for Congress. The BJP ranked a distant third with a seat projection of only 1-5.






Urban Voters Lean Towards Congress

Voters in the Greater Bengaluru region are leaning towards Congress as per the survey. 


The BJP is projected to win 11-15 seats in the region while the Congress is better placed with a projection of 15-19 seats.


Religious Polarisation Most Impactful Factor Ahead Of Elections

As many as 24.6% respondents said that religious polarisation would be the most impactful factor in the upcoming polls, followed by Cauvery water dispute, minority status for Lingayats and Vokkaligas, recent serial murders, etc.




 





Congress's Siddaramaiah Voters' Choice For Next CM

Former CM Siddaramaiah topped the list of voters' choice for the next CM, with 39.1% voting in his favour. A majority of voters also felt that Congress would win the elections this year.






 






BJP Govt Scores Low On Performance

50% of respondents in the ABP CVoter Survey said that the BJP government performed poorly. As much as 47% of the respondents, said that CM Basavaraj Bommai's was poor.


The saving grace for BJP was perhaps PM Narendra Modi's ratings. As many as 47% of the respondents rated that PM Modi's performance as 'Good'.

ABP Cvoter Karnataka Opinion Poll Live: Hello and welcome to the LIVE blog of ABP News-CVoter Karnataka Election 2023 Opinion Poll. Follow this space for all the pre-poll analysis for the Karnataka Assembly Election 2023. 


The race for the next chief minister in Karnataka was officially flagged off today with the Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announcing the poll schedule in the state. The 224-member Karnataka Assembly will undergo an election on May 10 and the votes will be counted on May 13. The term of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly would end on May 24, 2023. 


The gazette notification will be issued on April 13 and the last date for filing nominations will be April 20. The date for scrutiny of nominations has been set for April 21 and the last date for withdrawal of candidature will be April 24. Polling will take place on May 10 and the votes will be counted on May 13 and the entire poll process will be concluded by May 15.  


The incumbent Bharatiya Janata Party, led by Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, is aiming to come back to power and has been stressing the Kannadiga issue and the recent decision to grant reservation to Lingayat and Vokkaliga communities by scrapping a religion-based reservation for the Muslim community. 


Whereas Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) are trying to corner the BJP dispensation on the issue of corruption. 


In the 2018 Karnataka Assembly Election, BJP had emerged as the largest party but could not form the government after being limited to 104 seats. The Congress along with JD(S) formed a post-poll alliance and came to power with HD Kumaraswamy as the Chief Minister. But, after a series of defections, the government was toppled in 2019 and a new government was formed with BS Yediyurappa as the Chief Minister who stepped down from the post on July 26, 2021. Basavaraj Bommai then took over as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on July 28, 2021.
