Background

Narsapuram: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Gokaraju Ganga Raju from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 85351 votes. The polling / voting in Narsapuram constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 1 on 11 April. The major contest is between Telugu Desam Party#s Vetukuri Venkata Shiva Rama Raju and YSR Congress Party#s Raghuram Krishnam Raju

Narsapuram 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Telugu Desam Party won 15 out of the 25 parliamentary seat with 29.1 percent vote share while the YSR Congress Party managed to win just 8 seats with a 28.9 percent vote share.

Out of the 14 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Narsapuram, 12 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Gokaraju Ganga Raju of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Vanka Ravindranath by a margin of 85351 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate by a margin of 64412 votes INC candidate Chegondi Venkata Harirama Jogaiah had got 402761 while BJP got Uppalapati Venkatakrishnam Raju votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Uppalapati Venkata Krishnam Raju attained 421099 votes and INC's Kanumuru Bapiraju bagged 255151 votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated Telugu Desam Party candidate with a difference of 47970 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Kanumuru Bapi Raju attained 368630 votes and Telugu Desam Party candidate Kothapalli Subbarayudu (Pedababu) bagged 320660 votes
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 17626 votes. Here, Telugu Desam Party leader Kothapalli Subbarayudu (Pedababu) attained 304536 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Kanumuru Bapiraju bagged 286910 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 58549 votes TDP candidate Vijayakumar Raju Bhupathiraju had got 317703 while INC got Krishnam Raju votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Telugu Desam Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 13802 votes. Here, Telugu Desam Party leader Bhupatiraju Vijaya Kumar Raju attained 334215 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Nachu Seshagiri Rao bagged 320413 votes
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha poll, Telugu Desam Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, TDP candidate Vijaya Kumar Raju Bhupathiraju attained 366534 votes and INC's Alluri Subhaschandra Bose bagged 170160 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Communist Party of India candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC(I) candidate Alluri Subhaschandra Bose attained 272124 votes and CPM's Uddaraju Ramam bagged 114156 votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated CPM candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Alluri Subhash Chandra Bose attained 256519 votes and CPM's Uddaraju Ramam bagged 142162 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated CPM candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate M. T. Raju attained 285356 votes and CPM's Uddaraju Raman bagged 92601 votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated CPM candidate with a difference of 36553 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader D. Balaramarajau attained 185274 votes and CPM candidate U. Raman bagged 148721 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated CPI candidate with a difference of 14669 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Datla Balaramaraju attained 181878 votes and CPI candidate Uddaraju Ramam bagged 167209 votes
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Communist Party of India (Marxist) candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 35465 votes. Here, Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Uddaraju Ramam attained 134119 votes and INC candidate Manganti Bapineedu bagged 98654 votes
