Keonjhar: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Sakuntala Laguri from Biju Janata Dal (BJD) won the elections by a margin of 157317 votes. The polling / voting in Keonjhar constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 3 on 23 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Ananta Naik and Biju Janata Dal#s Chandrani Murmu

Keonjhar 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Biju Janata Dal won 20 out of the 21 parliamentary seat with 44.1 percent vote share while the Bharatiya Janata Party managed to win just 1 seats with a 21.5 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Keonjhar Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 80.48% Lok Sabha percent with 79.67% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 81.34% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 26065 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 8 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Keonjhar, 5 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Sakuntala Laguri of the Biju Janata Dal as he defeated Ananta Nayak by a margin of 157317 votes.

  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 49209 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Ananta Nayak attained 355702 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Nilakantha Nayak bagged 306493 votes
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Ananta Nayak attained 416956 votes and INC's Yashobant Singh Laguri bagged 194403 votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 86275 votes BJP candidate Upendranath Nayak had got 347906 while INC got Madhaba Sardar votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate Madhaba Sardar attained 279971 votes and BJP's Harihar Soren bagged 154061 votes.
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between JD and Indian National Congress here JD candidate defeated his Indian National Congress counterpart with a difference of 7394 votes.
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha poll, JD candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, JD candidate Govind Chandra Munda attained 279226 votes and INC's Kumar Majhi bagged 152694 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated JNP candidate by a margin of 84624 votes INC candidate Harinder Soren had got 181169 while JNP got Govinda Chandra Munda votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated JNP(S) candidate by a margin of 85048 votes INC(I) candidate Harihar Soren had got 125750 while JNP(S) got Govinda Munda votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, BLD candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 47745 votes. Here, BLD leader Govinda Munda attained 113790 votes and INC candidate Rahas Bihari Mohapapatra bagged 66045 votes
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated UTC candidate with a difference of 19512 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Kumar Majhi attained 63705 votes and UTC candidate Bairiganjan Naik bagged 44193 votes
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, SWA candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 40824 votes. Here, SWA leader G. Naik attained 79906 votes and INC candidate K. Naik bagged 39082 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated GP candidate with a difference of 10282 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Laxmi Narayan Bhanja Deo attained 36336 votes and GP candidate Rajballabh Mishra bagged 26054 votes
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Independent candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 40163 votes. Here, Independent leader Bhanj Deo Laxmi Narayan attained 62509 votes and INC candidate Banshidhar Ratha bagged 22346 votes
  • 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, Indian National Congress candidate defeated GP candidate with a difference of 21566 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Bhubananda Das attained 104114 votes and GP candidate Adityapratap Singh Deo bagged 82548 votes
