Hassan: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, H.D. Devegowda from Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)) won the elections by a margin of 100462 votes. The polling / voting in Hassan constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 2 on 18 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s A Manju and Janata Dal (Secular)#s Prajwal Revanna

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 17 out of the 28 parliamentary seat with 43 percent vote share while the Indian National Congress managed to win just 9 seats with a 40.8 percent vote share.

• 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha poll, Indian National Congress candidate defated Janata Dal (Secular) candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate G.Putta Swamy Gowda attained 398344 votes and JD(S)'s H.D.Deve Gowda bagged 256587 votes.
• 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 31654 votes. Here, JD leader H.D.Devegowda attained 336407 votes and Indian National Congress candidate H.C.Sreekantaiah bagged 304753 votes
• 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 80787 votes JD candidate Y N Rudreshagowda had got 313241 while INC got S M Anand votes.
