Background

Gandhinagar: Congress began its preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls soon after Election Commission announced the schedule for the same on Sunday. The party is set to blow its political trumpet in Modi’s home turf in Gujarat. The grand old party is holding its Working Committee meeting in Ahmedabad on Tuesday after 58 years, as the last CWC meet in Gujarat took place way back in 1961.

As per reports, Congress will decide its strategy for the upcoming polls and the plan out ways on defeating Modi. All senior leaders from Congress are set to participate in this meeting. After the meeting, Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi and former PM Manmohan Singh will participate in Jan Sankalp rally.

Not only this, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi is likely to address a public gathering for the first time. This is the second visit of Rahul Gandhi to Gujarat in one month. On the other hand, Patidar leader Hardik Patel is also set to get inducted into Congress today.

Ahead of Congress Working Committtee meeting, party’s Central electoral Committee meeting took place at Sonia Gandhi’s residence. This meeting also had party Chief Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, AK Antony, Giriraj Vyas, Janardan Dwivedi, KC Venugopal, Veerappa Moily and Mukul Vasnik. Discussions regarding Maharastra, Uttar Pradesh and Chhattisgarh took place in this meeting. Priyanka Gandhi and Scindia were also among attendees.

Voting for Lok Sabha elections in Gujarat is set take place on April 2, the counting of votes will take place on May 23.
