Bangalore South: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Ananth Kumar from Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) won the elections by a margin of 228575 votes. The polling / voting in Bangalore South constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 2 on 18 April. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Tejaswi Surya L.S. and Congress Party#s Bk harprasad

Bangalore South 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 17 out of the 28 parliamentary seat with 43 percent vote share while the Indian National Congress managed to win just 9 seats with a 40.8 percent vote share.

Voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections in Bangalore South Lok Sabha Lok Sabha constituency. The total voter turnout was 55.69% Lok Sabha percent with 56.81% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 54.44% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 7414 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 23 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Bangalore South, 21 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Ananth Kumar of the Bharatiya Janta Party as he defeated Nandan Nilekani by a margin of 228575 votes.

Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Ananth Kumar attained 437953 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Krishna Byre Gowda bagged 400341 votes
  • 2004 Lok Sabha Elections: In 14th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 62271 votes BJP candidate Ananth Kumar had got 386682 while INC got Krishnappa M votes.
  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 66054 votes BJP candidate Ananth Kumar had got 410161 while INC got B.K.Hari Prasad votes.
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha poll, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defated Indian National Congress candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BJP candidate Ananth Kumar attained 429648 votes and INC's D.P.Sharma bagged 249601 votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 21968 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader Ananth Kumar attained 251235 votes and Indian National Congress candidate Varalakshmi Gundurao bagged 229267 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, Bharatiya Janta Party candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 27248 votes. Here, Bharatiya Janta Party leader K. Venkatgiri Gowda attained 275083 votes and Indian National Congress candidate R. Gundu Rao bagged 247835 votes
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defated JD candidate in one-sided contest. Here, INC candidate R.Gundu Rao attained 413574 votes and JD's M.Raghupathy bagged 173720 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, JNP candidate defeated Indian National Congress candidate with a difference of 12732 votes. Here, JNP leader V. S. Krishna Iyer attained 264765 votes and Indian National Congress candidate K. Venkatagiri Gowda bagged 252033 votes
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between JNP and Indian National Congress here JNP candidate defeated his Indian National Congress counterpart with a difference of 2727 votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha election, BLD candidate defeated INC candidate with a difference of 41165 votes. Here, BLD leader K. S. Hegde attained 221974 votes and INC candidate K. Hanumantaiya bagged 180809 votes
  • 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, Indian National Congress candidate defeated KMPP candidate with a difference of 44185 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader T. Madiah Gowda attained 80951 votes and KMPP candidate K. Srinivasa Rao bagged 36766 votes
