Background

Azamgarh: In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Mulayam Singh Yadav from Samajwadi Party (SP) won the elections by a margin of 63204 votes. The polling / voting in Azamgarh constituency in the 2019 General elections took place in Phase 6 on 12 May. The major contest is between Bharatiya Janata Party#s Dinesh Lal Yadav and Samajwadi Party#s Akhilesh Yadav

Azamgarh 2014 Lok Sabha Polls

In the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, Bharatiya Janata Party won 71 out of the 80 parliamentary seat with 42.3 percent vote share while the Samajwadi Party managed to win just 5 seats with a 22.2 percent vote share.

The total voter turnout was 56.38% Lok Sabha percent with 53.61% Lok Sabha percent male voters turning out to cast their votes. Meanwhile, 59.79% Lok Sabha percent of the women voters cast their votes and 5660 Lok Sabha voters pressed on the NOTA

Out of the 18 Lok Sabha candidates who contested the 2014 Lok Sabha elections from Azamgarh, 15 had to deposit their security. The voters gave their mandate in favour of Mulayam Singh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party as he defeated Ramakant Yadav by a margin of 63204 votes.

  • 1999 Lok Sabha Elections: In 13th Lok Sabha election, Samajwadi Party candidate defeated Bahujan Samaj Party candidate with a difference of 26979 votes. Here, Samajwadi Party leader Rama Kant Yadav attained 227616 votes and Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Akbar Ahmad Dumpy bagged 200637 votes
  • 1998 Lok Sabha Elections: In 12th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party here Bahujan Samaj Party candidate defeated his Samajwadi Party counterpart with a difference of 5365 votes.
  • 1996 Lok Sabha Elections: In 11th Lok Sabha election, Samajwadi Party candidate defeated Bahujan Samaj Party candidate with a difference of 22081 votes. Here, Samajwadi Party leader Rama Kant Yadav attained 161586 votes and Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Ram Krishna Yadav bagged 139505 votes
  • 1991 Lok Sabha Elections: In 10th Lok Sabha election, JD candidate defeated Bharatiya Janta Party candidate with a difference of 46633 votes. Here, JD leader Chandra Jeet attained 156238 votes and Bharatiya Janta Party candidate Janardan Singh bagged 109605 votes
  • 1989 Lok Sabha Elections: In Ninth Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Bahujan Samaj Party and JD here Bahujan Samaj Party candidate defeated his JD counterpart with a difference of 9081 votes.
  • 1984 Lok Sabha Elections: In 8th Lok Sabha election, interesting battle could be seen between Indian National Congress and LKD here Indian National Congress candidate defeated his LKD counterpart with a difference of 2786 votes.
  • 1980 Lok Sabha Elections: In 7th Lok Sabha election, JNP(S) candidate had defeated Indian National Congress candidate by a margin of 65183 votes JNP(S) candidate Chandrajeet had got 159069 while INC(I) got Zafaruddin Khan Faizan votes.
  • 1977 Lok Sabha Elections: In Sixth Lok Sabha poll, BLD candidate defated INC candidate in one-sided contest. Here, BLD candidate Ram Naresh attained 238985 votes and INC's Chandrajeet bagged 101175 votes.
  • 1971 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fifth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate had defeated SSP candidate by a margin of 56669 votes INC candidate Chandrajeet had got 117719 while SSP got Vishram votes.
  • 1967 Lok Sabha Elections: In Fourth Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated SSP candidate with a difference of 21153 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader C. Jeet attained 88690 votes and SSP candidate V. Rai bagged 67537 votes
  • 1962 Lok Sabha Elections: In Third Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated PSP candidate with a difference of 11396 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Ram Harkh attained 74576 votes and PSP candidate Vishram Rai bagged 63180 votes
  • 1957 Lok Sabha Elections: In Second Lok Sabha election, Indian National Congress candidate defeated PSP candidate with a difference of 18769 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Kalika attained 138247 votes and PSP candidate Prof. Mukut Behari Lal bagged 119478 votes
  • 1951 Lok Sabha Elections: In India's Very First Lok Sabha Polls, Indian National Congress candidate defeated SP candidate with a difference of 30915 votes. Here, Indian National Congress leader Vishwa Nath attained 112449 votes and SP candidate Mukut Behari Lal bagged 81534 votes

ओडिशा विधानसभा चुनावों के नतीजों में भी लोकसभा के नतीजों की झलक नजर आ रही है. कुल 146 विधानसभा सीटों में से बीजेडी ने 109 सीटों पर बढ़त बनाई हुई है. वहीं, बीजेपी कुल 23 सीटों पर आगे है. रुझानों में कांग्रेस कुल 12 विधानसभा सीटों पर बढ़त बनाए हुए है. इसके अलावा 2 सीटों पर अन्य का कब्जा होता दिख रहा है.
