A report by the leading daily, Times of India, has said that the Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad has indicated that they have evaluated almost 96 percent of the answer sheets for class 10 and 12 board. And this from all the zones- red, orange, and green. The report also says that 3.1 crore answer sheets are now left for correction till May 31.
The Board has also clarified that evaluation exercise in those districts that fall under the green zones has been completed. Work is still left in centres that fall in the orange zone. There are 133 centres in the orange zone and work has been completed in 131 of them.
But the maximum work which is still incomplete is in the red zones where evaluation has been possible only in 37 centres out of the total 85.
Around 56 lakh students had appeared for their high school and/or intermediate examinations, held in March this year in the state. And there were about five crore answer sheets pertaining to these examinations. The Board of High School and Intermediate Education Uttar Pradesh, Allahabad, commonly known as the UP Board, conducts examinations for Class 10 and 12 and is considered the biggest board for high school and intermediate level examinations in Asia in terms of the number of students appearing every year. At present, there are more than 22,000 secondary schools recognized by the board and it conducts the examinations and prepares results of nearly 64 lakh students. The UP Teachers Association had also protested against work during the lockdown and suggested that evaluation be done after the lifting of the lockdown.
