New Delhi: Traffic snarls near Delhi-Haryana border again as the Haryana government sealed the border 2 days ago due to a surge in coronavirus cases in the state. Heavy traffic congestion was seen at the GT Karnal road, Singhu border, and near Ghazipur.

People in large numbers also gathered at the Delhi-Gurugram border. Police personnel were seen checking passes and identity cards of people commuting through the Delhi-Gurugram border.

Haryana Health Minister Anil Vij had said on Thursday that the Delhi-Gurugram border will be sealed for now as the cases are continuously shooting up.

"Delhi's cases and the adjoining areas with Delhi is a big concern for us. The cases are increasing in Gurugram and Faridabad, as they share their border with Delhi. The border will remain sealed for now", Haryana Health Minister has said.

The  Haryana state government had earlier given an undertaking before Delhi High Court that the movement of people from Delhi to Haryana would be allowed on the production of e-passes.

These movement passes were to be issued to all persons engaged in providing essential services, including medical professionals, within 30 minutes of the receipt of application.

Each e-pass is valid for the entire duration of the lockdown and can be used for multiple visits, the state government had informed HC.

Similar traffic congestion was seen at the Delhi-Ghaziabad border 2 days ago after which the directions were issued by authorities that only those vehicles possessing e-passes and engaged in essential services after the Uttar Pradesh district sealed its border.
