Students Have Brought Glory To This Institution By Serving The Country: President Murmu At Kashmir University Convocation

The President of India is on a two-day visit to Kashmir starting from October 11, 2023.

The honourable President of India attended the convocation ceremony of the Kashmir University today in Srinagar. Speaking at the ceremony she said that the students of the university have brought glory to the institution by serving the country. At the ceremony, she also distributed medals among students. Jammu and Kashmir L-G Manoj Sinha was also present at the convocation ceremony. "The convocation ceremony of University of Kashmir is important in many aspects as this university has started its journey of the 'Amrit Kaal,” Manoj Sinha said while addressing the ceremony. 

Notably, the honourable president is on a two-day visit to Kashmir. She will also be visiting the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, PTI reported. Earlier today, President Murmu was received by Jammu and Kashmir L-G Manoh Sinha at the airport on her arrival at Srinagar. The president was also accorded Guard of Honour on her first visit to Jammu and Kashmir. Upon her arrival, the president also visited the China War memorial in Srinagar, where she paid tribute to the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.

Besides visiting the Vaishno Devi Shrine on October 12, President Murmu will also be meeting and interacting with tribal groups and women from self-help groups at the Raj Bhavan. She will also attend a civic reception hosted in the raj Bhavan in her honour. On her visit to the Vaishno Devi Shrine, the president will also be inaugurating the remodelled Parvati Bhavan, and the Skywalk. Devotees coming through the Sanji Chat route in helicopters and those with battery-operated vehicles and palkies through the Himkoti route will be able to reach the bhavan through the Skywalk, as per officials. 

Following the president’s arrival. Security arrangements have also been beefed up in the valley. Different meetings were chaired by both Lt Governor Manoj Sinha and Jammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Dilbag Singh in Srinagar to review the security arrangements ahead of the president’s visit.
