Expressing concerns over student suicides in the country, President Droupadi Murmu has termed suicides among students a ‘serious issue.’ Addressing the launch of Brahma Kumaris theme of the year “The Year of Positive Change,” in Raipur, the honorable president called for all stakeholders to help ease pressure among students with positive thinking and self-confidence. “There is a very serious matter which I want to place before you. Just a few days ago, two students preparing for NEET ended their lives, their dreams and their future,” the president said.
“I appeal to the family members, friends, teachers and society of this future generation to understand the mentality of these children and help them. I would like to tell all the stakeholders that if there is pressure of studies and competition on the children, then through positive thinking, remove them and help them move ahead with confidence,” she added further.
“One thing I want to say to every child, young and old, is that you should always keep doing positive work as per your interests and be around positive thoughts and good company, in order to develop your inner strength. Be in the midst of such people who inspire you to walk on the right path and also support you in moving forward,” she further added.
Notably, President Murmu arrived at Raipur this morning to attend the launch event of Brahma Kumaris theme of the year. On her maiden visit to Chhattisgarh as the President of India, she was received by Governor of Chhattisgarh Shri Biswabhusan Harichandan and Chief Minister Shri Bhupesh Baghel at Raipur airport where she was also accorded with guard of honour.
In her address at the launch event, she also underlined the contribution of Brahma Kumaris towards public welfare. “On the strength of determination and continuous efforts, the women-led Brahma Kumari organization is continuously moving forward with the spirit of public welfare and is making invaluable contributions in improving the world,” she said.
