New Delhi: On the backdrop of ongoing violence in parts of the national capital, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has once again postponed Class 10 and Class 12 Board examinations scheduled for February 28 (Friday) and February 29 (Saturday) in riot-hit northeast Delhi. The education board, however, said that examination in the rest of Delhi shall be conducted as scheduled.

There are a total of 86 centres in northeast Delhi. The next date of exam for the affected students will be announced shortly. The Class 10 and Class 12 Board examination scheduled to take place today (February 27) was also postponed by CBSE due to similar reason.

CBSE said in a statement that considering the request of Delhi's Directorate of Education and to avoid inconvenience to students, staff and parents, the exam has been postponed for the area, but will be conducted in rest of Delhi as scheduled.

According to reports, CBSE has asked all these violence affected schools of northeast Delhi to send details of Class 10, 12 students who were unable to appear for exams due the ongoing clashes between pro and anti protesters of Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).

"The board has asked school principals to send the details to regional offices concerned of the CBSE of all such students of class 10, 12 who have missed out on the exams so far in Delhi, due to these difficult conditions," news agency PTI quoted CBSE Secretary Anurag Tripathi as saying.

The exams are being put off for the last four days due to violence in these areas. The CBSE had postponed the board exams for Class 10 and 12 scheduled on Wednesday in northeast Delhi.

"To reduce the stress on students, the board will conduct fresh exams for these students. The next date of exam for affected students will be notified shortly," Tripathi added.

The communal violence over the amended citizenship law in northeast Delhi has claimed 34 lives so far and left over 200 people injured.
