In yet another incident of suicide by students in Kota, an 18-year-old girl preparing for the JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) has allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself at her home in Kota, on Monday, news agency PTI reported. The deceased student has also reportedly penned a note for her parents, describing herself as a ‘loser.’

“Mummy, papa I can't do JEE. So I suicide,” said the note left by the student, as per the police. Notably, she was about to appear for the JEE Main Exam 2023 in a matter of days. Notably, the JEE Main Exams 2024 are already underway and are scheduled to be held from January 24 to February 1, 2024.

In stark contrast, the incident of the girl student’s death was reported on the day when PM Modi interacted with ‘Exam Warriors’ from across the country, and helped them with tips to battle stress, help motivate themselves, and face their exams with confidence.

As per circle officer DSP Dharmveer Singh, the student was a resident of Shiv Vihar Colony under Kota’s Borekheda police station area, and was about to appear for her JEE Exam on January 30 or 31, 2024. The deceased student’s suicide note hints that she was under severe stress oh fer studies, and found it difficult to tackle the exam, the officer said.

She was the eldest among three sisters and her father works as a private security guard in a bank in Kota, he added. Hailing from Jhalawar district’s Akawdakhurd village, the family had been residing in Kota since the past three years.

As per the student’s cousin, she was under severe stress due to her upcoming JEE exam. She even had to repeat her Class 12 Exams for a better score, the relative told reporters outside the mortuary. He further added that she was a good student who used to study for around 7-8 hours a day.

It was the student’s grandmother who knocked at her door around 10:00 am, only to be met with no response from the student, raising an alarm. Eventually, the family found the girl hanging from the ventilation window above the door.

Notably, this is the second case of suicide by students in Kota this year. Earlier on January 25, another student from Uttar Pradesh’ Moradabad district who was preparing for the NEET exam in Kota was reportedly found hanging from the ceiling fan inside his hostel room. The police recovered the body from the deceased student’s hostel room in New Rajiv Gandhi Nagar area of Kota.
