Mumbai: The Maharashtra government has announced the reopening of schools from August 17. Earlier on Friday, Maharashtra Education Minister Varsha Gaikwad said the schools in both rural and urban areas will reopen on August 17.
“Offline classes will commence in rural areas for students from class 5-8, while those in cities will be for students from class 8-12 following Covid-19 protocols,” she said.
Gaikwad also informed the state government is still contemplating and planning how the children will be invited to schools from Class 5 to 8 in rural areas and Class 9 to 12 in urban areas.
The Covid-19 pandemic over the last one and a half years has inculcated the habit of online education to the students.
The teachers explain the content written in books over zoom calls to the students, who try to grab them by continuously looking at their systems or cell phones.
The children, while studying online, are busy with their phones and laptops in such a situation.
The parents residing in Shree Sai Sundar Nagar of Mumbai’s Prabhadevi area welcomed the government’s decision as many children do not pay attention to their studies while learning online and pay more attention to games.
Besides, practical knowledge is available in schools and physical activities are also done.
Some parents, however, demand that school teachers must have taken both Covid vaccines before resumption of classes, while half of the total number of children should be called on one day and the rest on the other day.
