Leh: A total of 402 highly trained recruits from Agniveer were officially inducted into the Ladakh Scouts regiment of the Army during a passing out parade held here on Tuesday, news agency PTI quoted a defense spokesperson as saying. The ceremony, conducted in adherence to the esteemed customs of the Army, was overseen by Maj Gen Dinesh Kumar Singh, Chief of Staff at headquarters 14 Corps. Among the attendees were a diverse array of distinguished military officials, civil dignitaries, and the proud parents of the Agniveer recruits, the spokesperson added.


He said six young Agniveers were awarded medals during the parade for their outstanding achievements in training.


The spokesperson said that the 'Gaurav Padak' was bestowed upon the proud parents whose children had joined the regiment as Agniveers. This moment was truly a source of pride for the families, many of whom had traveled from remote regions to witness this grand event.


Addressing the young recruits, Maj Gen Singh extended his congratulations for their impeccable parade performance and urged them to dedicate their lives to serving the nation as proud soldiers of the Army. He also commended the parents for encouraging their children to join the Army and instilling in them a deep sense of national pride.

The reviewing officer further lauded the Ladakh Scouts personnel for their outstanding achievements across all fronts, highlighting their exceptional courage and sacrifices in safeguarding the nation's sovereignty. He encouraged the young soldiers to continue striving for excellence in all endeavors and to pledge unwavering allegiance to defend the nation's sovereignty, echoing the core values upheld by the Army.


Notably, the Agnipath Scheme stands as the sole pathway for individuals to serve in the military. Recruits enlisted under the banner of Agniveers commit to a four-year tenure, comprising six months of rigorous training followed by 3.5 years of active deployment. Upon completion of their service term, they are allowed to apply for continued service within the armed forces, thereby perpetuating their dedication to the nation's defense.
