IIT Placement 2021: Less Than 200 International Job Offers, Salary Packages Come Down Due To Covid-19

IIT Placement 2021: Less than 200 students across the country have secured jobs overseas.

IIT Placement 2021: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Placement 2020-21 has been completed across the country. This year, these institutes have seen a huge reduction in international job opportunities. Less than 200 students across the country have secured jobs overseas.

Due to the covid-19 pandemic, many regions across the world have been affected. As a result, IIT Placements 2020-21 has seen fewer international offers. Not only this, but the compensation package has also come down significantly this year. The decrease in international placements compared to the last two years has come due to the pandemic and unstable travel restrictions.

As per the media reports, IIT Bombay managed to secure 58 international placements as compared to 159 last year. IIT Gandhinagar has been on zero international placements since the pandemic started in 2020. IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, and IIT Roorkee have also seen a significant drop in international job offers as compared to last year. The highest annual package in IIT Roorkee placements has come down from Rs 1.53 crore per annum to Rs 69.05 lakh per annum. The International Annual Compensation in IIT Bombay Placements has also decreased as compared to the years 2019 and 2020.

According to a report published in the Times of India, the placement officer of IIT Bombay has told that the placement was challenging at the time of the pandemic. It was not easy to conduct the entire process online with the students. The COVID-19 blues has made placement one of the most challenging tasks. However, IIT placements 2020-21 have been successfully completed with average results.

“Covid blues made placements one of the most challenging tasks. Though cracking the number of placements has never been a matter of concern for IIT Roorkee, maintaining the quality, meeting students’ high expectations, and hitting the high package bar set over the years, was the most ambitious and demanding task,” IIT Roorkee spokesperson was quoted by TOI in its report.

The institutes are hopeful that the business will resume soon and the placement graph will be normal by the beginning of the next session. To get more details about IIT Placements 2020-21, students can visit the official website of their respective institute.
