New Delhi: As most academic boards have declared the class 12 results, students are now looking forward to college admissions. This year due to the coronavirus pandemic, most colleges have started online registration for admissions. For Jamia Millia Islamia University the last date to submit an online application for university programmes including JMI schools and those applying under the foreign national and Non-Resident Indian (NRI) is 31st July 2020. Whereas, the last date to apply for admission in Ph.D. and MPhil Programme is 20th August 2020.

Online forms were made available after February 21, 2020, the last date to avail online forms was March 25, 2020. But due to extended lockdown owing to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the dates were shifted multiple times initially it the last date of application to June 30th, 2020 but originally the last date to apply was April 15, 2020.

Due to the pandemic, the entrance examinations have been postponed until further notice. According to an India Today report, the Controller of Examinations of the University, Dr. Nazim H. Jafri said "As per the admission prospectus 2020, JMI was to hold the offline admission tests in between May and June. However, the admission tests have been further postponed in view of the pandemic. Final decisions regarding mode of conduct of admission tests and their rescheduling shall be taken by the university very soon after a comprehensive assessment of the situation."

He also said "The eligibility criteria and minimum scores are defined in the admission prospectus for each programme. JMI doesn’t grant admission on the basis of scores secured in the immediate qualifying exams. It is granted on merit index secured by a candidate in the admission test as per university rules."
