New Delhi:  As candidates are preparing for Common Admission Test (CAT) 2020 to be conducted by Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indore, it is important to note the key changes, including the reduction in hours of the exams among other notable changes.   IIMs have extended the registration date to 5pm on September on September 23. The institutes will soon release the relevant changes.  related to the marking scheme and the total number of questions which will be asked in the CAT exam. IIM Indore will provide detailed information about the number of questions and marking scheme on September 20.

What are the five key changes in CAT 2020?

Duration of examination reduced:  Applicants writing the exam should note that the duration of the exam will be two hours this time instead of the usual composite duration of one session of three hours. The total duration of the exam has been reduced to 120 minutes this year.

Three sessions: This year the examination will be conducted on November 29 in three sessions instead of two sessions previously held, but extra session has been added to ensure the social distancing norms are followed due to pandemic.

Section-wise time limit reduced: Candidates appearing for CAT 2020 will now have 40 minutes to answer questions in each section instead of 60 minutes allotted earlier.  As the time limit is reduced, candidates will have to prepare accordingly and try to answer the maximum number of questions in the given time.

Three sections: Candidates will have to answer questions that will be divided into three sections as earlier. The first section will comprise Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, the second section will have Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning while the third section will focus on Quantitative Ability. Also, remember that you have to answer one section at a time and won’t be allowed to switch sections while answering.

The examination is conducted annually for admission to various management courses, including PGP, PGDM, PGPEM, EPGP, PGPBM and PGPEX. The examination will be held across 156 test cities in the country.
