The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodh Gaya has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bihar's Transport Department to offer training in management, leadership, and skill development for its officials. The initiative will cover officials like Additional District Transport Officers (ADTO), Motor Vehicle Inspectors (MVI), and Enforcement Sub-Inspectors (ESI), who will undergo phased training. Each batch will participate in a six-day residential program hosted by IIM Bodh Gaya.


Transport Secretary Shri Sanjay Kumar Agarwal highlighted that the agreement aims to equip Transport Department officials with modern management techniques, enhancing their skills, work culture, office management, and revenue generation. He emphasized that improved skills will lead to better transport services and help reduce road accidents.


Dr. Vinita Sahay, Director of IIM Bodh Gaya, underscored that the program will focus on management, leadership, and skill development, enabling transport officials to perform their roles more effectively.


Transport Minister Sheela Kumari stated that this agreement represents a significant milestone for the department, reiterating the commitment to enhance officials' training and ultimately improve transport services in the state.


The Transport Department of Bihar oversees road transport services, traffic regulation, and vehicle compliance, with a strong focus on safety and efficiency. Through its 38 District Transport Officers (DTOs) and 9 Regional Transport Authorities (RTAs), the department strives to deliver citizen-focused services and ensure responsive governance.

This collaboration between IIM Bodh Gaya and the Transport Department of Bihar represents a significant step toward improving the skills of transport officials and enhancing transport services in the state. ADTO Pinku Kumar from Patna noted that the training would sharpen decision-making abilities, while Baby Kumari, ADTO of Gaya, mentioned that it would support data analysis and strategy development to reduce accidents.


IIM Bodh Gaya also provides leadership and management training to several Bihar government departments, including the Water Resource Department, State Health Society, Bihar Police Academy, BIPARD, and the Department of Industries, among others.
