The Indian Institute of Management Indore or IIM Indore is one of the top Business schools in India. In the NIRF Ranking 2024, IIM Indore holds the 8th position. The institute offers a variety of courses, including the Postgraduate Programme (PGP) in Management, which is the most popular. This two-year, full-time, residential Programme is accredited by the Association of MBAs (AMBA), a UK-based accreditation body. Additionally, the Programme has been accredited by the Association of Indian Universities, recognizing it as equivalent to an MBA degree.
To learn how to craft a compelling MBA application for IIM Indore and what defines successful candidates, ABP LIVE spoke with Professor Himanshu Rai, the institute's director. Here’s what he said:
Q: What qualities do you look for in MBA applicants?
A: We look for individuals who demonstrate a strong sense of social responsibility, contextual awareness, and a well-rounded skill set, along with either proven leadership skills or potential for leadership.
Q: What GMAT or CAT scores should applicants target?
A: For our PGP Programmeme, we only accept CAT scores. While meeting the minimum cut-offs in each section is necessary, we generally prefer candidates with percentile scores in the 99th percentile or above across all sections. However, the CAT score is just one of many factors we consider in the selection process.
Q: What’s a key tip for applicants to get admission?
A: We place significant emphasis on an applicant’s academic record in our evaluation process. Therefore, candidates who have shown consistent performance in academics and extracurricular activities, along with meeting the sectional cut-offs on the CAT, are particularly attractive to us.
Q: How should candidates approach the academic writing test?
A: Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have currently excluded the Written Ability Test from our admissions process.
Q: What does the admission interview involve?
A: The interview gives candidates a chance to demonstrate their academic strength, mathematical abilities, general knowledge, and communication skills.
Q: If an applicant has an average academic record, is there still a chance for admission?
A: While academic performance is a critical factor in our decision-making process, an average academic record does not automatically disqualify a candidate. If the candidate excels in other areas, such as the CAT and interview, they may still have a chance of receiving an offer of admission. However, gaining admission with below-average academic performance can be challenging.
