Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced plans to establish Sainik Schools in Public-Private-Partnership mode across different districts in the state. This initiative aims to not only increase the state's contribution to the armed forces but also nurture a significant number of Agniveers, as per an official statement.














Khattar made this announcement during the closing ceremony of the All India Sainik School National Games-2023, held at Sainik School, Kunjpura in Karnal, as reported by PTI. He also announced a grant of Rs 10 crore for the development of the school's infrastructure. The event witnessed the participation of over 650 players from various Sainik Schools across the country, engaging in a variety of competitions.

Chief Minister Khattar expressed pride in hosting the Games in Haryana for the first time and said that the opportunity it offers to aspiring athletes to earn selection for national and international competitions.


He underlined the essential values instilled by sports, including discipline and determination. Khattar also highlighted that sports competitions provide a platform for players to showcase their talents, promoting mutual understanding of diverse perspectives, beliefs, and lifestyles, which contributes to national unity.


The significant milestone of girl cadets participating for the first time, affirming the state's commitment to women's empowerment in line with the "Beti Bachao-Beti Padhao" initiative, the CM said. 


Khattar pointed out that one in every ten soldiers recruited in the Indian Army hails from Haryana. The state has opened multiple Sainik Schools to support this legacy, with active efforts to nurture a sports culture, making Haryana a sports powerhouse.


In Haryana, the slogan "Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan, Jai Pahalwan" carries profound significance, as it honors the strength and valor of soldiers, farmers, and wrestlers, all of whom make substantial contributions to the state.

Khattar said India achieved remarkable success at the recently concluded Asian Games in China, with players from the state winning 30 of the total 107 medals bagged by India.


This outstanding achievement has brought great honour to Haryana, he added.
