New Delhi: The government has warned students over fake news circulating online regarding online counselling and PG seat allotment for NEET PG 2020. The letter which claims to be from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare says that the ‘Directorate general of health service, the government of India has been encrusted with the responsibility to conduct online counseling for allotment of Post Graduate (MD/MS/Diploma and MDS)seats to eligible and qualified candidates as per directions of Hon'ble Supreme Court’

The typo-ridden letter goes on to state that ‘the Ministry has asked the states to allot seats to candidates for NEET PG admission 2020 through respected state rounds/AIQ 50 percent seats/ Deemed/ Central Universities/ AFMC by Medical Counselling Committee. ‘ It also says that ‘he/she shall not be eligible for participation in further rounds of counselling of state and DNB (2nd & 3rd round).’

The Press Information Bureau (PIB)has declared that the official-looking document is a fake and that no such announcement has been made. The PIB Twitter page has posted the image and written ‘Claim- A Letter circulating allegedly from Health Ministry to Chief Secretaries of all states, regarding online counselling &  PG seat allotment.  #PIBFactCheck- The letter is #Fake. No such letter has been issued by Health Ministry’
