The Telangana government on Friday said it would come out with a clear policy by July 13 on the commencement of the academic year and also the conduct of online classes for students of government and private schools.
Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has cancelled the May 2020 CA examination amidst the worsening COVID-19 situation in the country.
The exam will be merged with the November 2020 examination with carryover of all the benefits available to the students, said the ICAI notification.
The Union government may defer the exam schedules of the Joint entrance exam (JEE) and the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in the view of rising number of Coronavirus cases across country.
JEE (Main) for engineering colleges and the NEET for medical colleges are scheduled to take place later this month. While JEE (Mains), the first leg of the two-tier entrance, is currently scheduled between 18 July and 23 July in multiple test windows, NEET is slated for 26 July.
The performance of students in the cancelled examinations will be done based on the assessment scheme as suggested by competent committee of the CBSE for declaration of result for both class-X and class-XII.
1.The components used to arrive at the formula to award the marks in the papers which have an internal assessment component is limited to the internal assessment marks in the papers and the performance of the candidates in the board examination in the papers that they have already appeared for so far, measured through their average marks obtained in the best three papers. While the former measures the subject proficiency of the candidates, the latter is a measure of their general academic ability.
2. The marks awarded to the candidates are taken as a weighted average of these two components as mentioned in Point 1 above.
3. To arrive at the weight, detailed analyses were performed on the data from the past board examinations from the years 2015 to 2019 as well as the year 2020 board examination. Extensive scenario analyses were done based on different papers. Most importantly, the weights were so chosen as to ensure fairness to all the candidates appearing in the Board Examination this year to the best possible extent.

“In view of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Government of Odisha has instructed all Universities and Colleges to remain closed for the purpose of teaching till 31st August. This will result in loss of teaching days and may completely disrupt the Academic Calendar. Therefore, all Degree Colleges are to start online teaching as per following modalities, so that there will not be any disruption in learning during this period,” read the letter of Higher Education Dept of Odisha
The results of all the candidates for the remaining papers in the ICSE and ISC Year 2020 Examinations will be declared as per methodology decided and adopted by CISCE.
The remaining papers in the ICSE (Class X) and ISC (Class XII) board examinations, scheduled from July 1-14, 2020 as per its notification of May 22, shall stand cancelled.
If the situation is deemed conducive, in the near future, CISCE may give an option to candidates to write any or all of the remaining papers of the ICSE/ISC Year 2020 Examinations at a later date whereby the marks so obtained by the candidate in that written examination(s) shall be considered as their final marks, the affidavit said.
Uttar Pradesh govt was expected to take a decision on July 2nd regarding the final year college exams. The state said that it will release the guidelines once UGC issues the fresh guidelines. Since the UGC has not clarified anything on the topic yet, it is now to be seen whether the state government will go ahead and decide on its own.
Among other universities in the state, Lucknow University is slated to begin its exams on July 7.

The board said that the results based upon the assessment scheme will be declared by July 15, 2020.
For Class-XII, CBSE will conduct an optional examination in the subjects whose examinations were scheduled to be conducted from July 1-15, 2020 as soon as conditions are conducive, as assessed and decided by the Central Government.
Candidates whose results will be declared based on the assessment scheme will be allowed to appear in these optional examinations to improve their performance, if they wish so, the CBSE said, adding, that the marks obtained by a candidate in these optional examinations will be treated as final for those who have opted to take these examinations.
It said that for candidates in Class X, no further examinations will be conducted and the result declared by CBSE on the basis of assessment scheme will be treated as final.
ICSE is also likely to release results by the middle of July for class 10th and class 12th board examinations.

The institute sought time till July 10 to contact the centres and assess if the ICAI exam July 2020 can be conducted. The CA examination scheduled for May is currently slated to be held from July 29 to August 16.

NTA has not yet issued admit cards for JEE Mains and NEET 2020, even when the exam for JEE Mains are scheduled to take place between July 18 to July 23. Several states have also extended lockdown. This makes it more likely for the examinations to be cancelled.
However, an official announcement has not been made yet. It is more likely to be made after the expert committee of NTA will send its report to the HRD Ministry.

Parents of candidates from gulf countries have filed a plea in the Supreme Court of India, demanding more examination centres in the overseas country or for the exam to be postponed till the pandemic situation improves.
In a relief for students who could not clear their class 9th and class 11th examinations, the Central Board Of Secondary Education has asked all the affiliated schools to conduct the examinations of all the students that have failed exams. It is to be noted that that the Board had asked schools to pass all students from class 1 to 8. However those in class 9 and 11 were asked to be promoted on the basis of internal assessments. Those who could not clear the exams, they will now be given a second chance. It is for the schools to decide whether online or offline exams they would conduct for such students.
Update: The ICAI has extended the ICAI CA November exams registration date for foundation course till August 31, 2020. The notification can be checked at the ICAI’s official website icai.org.

NEET 2020- Students and parents are demanding the cancellation of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2020 exams due to rising coronavirus cases. Students have taken to social media and according to media reports parents have written to the Health Ministry raising their concerns. There has been no official announcement regarding the matter. NEET 2020 is scheduled to be held on July 26th.
JEE Mains 2020- The National Testing Agency or NTA is likely to release the admit cards for upcoming Joint Entrance Exams (JEE) exams in the coming week. According to the notification by the NTA to announce the new exam dates, the admit cards will be ‘released 15 days before the commencement of exams. Students have been requesting for the cancellation of exams due to the rise of coronavirus cases in India, but the NTA has yet to give an official statement. The National Testing Agency or NTA in March decided to postpone the Joint Entrance Exams from April 2020 to July 2020. The new dates of the exams are July 18 to July 23, 2020, in the notice issued on 22 May 2020.
ICAI CA exams 2020- The Supreme Court on Thursday is set to hear the matter regarding the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) exams scheduled from July 29-August 16. In a hearing held on June 29, Monday, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) had been asked by the Supreme Court to extend its ‘opt-out’ facility to include all students irrespective of whether they selected the option earlier or not for the upcoming exams. The apex court directed the ICAI to allow students to opt-out of the exams scheduled from July 29-August 16 due to rising coronavirus cases. The ICAI had earlier stated that those who miss the round of examinations in July will be allowed to appear in the next round held in November 2020.

CBSE and ICSE exams 2020- After much debate, the CBSE decided to cancel the pending board exams due to the rising COVID-19 cases. The Board announced the decision on June 25 after the Supreme Court took up petitions filed by parents who were worried about the safety of the students. The Board decided to cancel Class 10 exams altogether, but Class 12 students can opt to appear for the board exams. These exams will be conducted when the conditions are conducive. The CBSE came up with a new scheme for marking according to which those students who have appeared in more than three exams will be marked on the basis of an average of the best of three subjects. While those who appeared in three papers will be marked on the best of two. Similarly, those students who appeared in less than 3 papers will be marked based on practical and internal assessment. The Indian Certificate of Secondary Education Board (ICSE) also cancelled the class 10 and 12 exams and results will be declared based on assessment. While initially, the Board had announced that there will be no option for students to give exams later, they have told the Supreme Court that they may consider giving the option to write an exam at a later stage to class 10 students.
