CBSE Board Exam 2021: Board Exams For Class 10 Cancelled & 12th Postponed, Says Education Ministry

CBSE Board Exam 2021 Postponed: This decision was taken after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with Education Minister and other dignitaries on Wednesday. 

With the number of Covid-19 cases breaching the records of last year, students of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board examination can breathe a sigh of relief as the Class 10 board exams have been cancelled while class 12 examinations postponed after Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday discussed the concerns in a meeting with Education Minister, Secretary and other important officials.

Ministry of Education informed that Board Exams for Class 10th cancelled and 12th postponed. Results of Class 10th will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board. Class 12th exams will be held later, the situation will be reviewed on 1st June by the Board.

CBSE board examinations were earlier scheduled to begin on 4 May and to end on 7 June for class 10 students and 11 June for class 12 students. Results for both classes were expected by July 15.

News agency ANI quoted Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank who briefed development saying, "Students of Class 10 to be promoted on basis of internal assessment. If a student is not satisfied with the assessment then he/she can appear for the examination once the situation is normal."

This decision was taken after Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting with Education Minister and other dignitaries amid rising cases of Coronavirus disease. The crucial meeting also came after nearly 1 lakh students of class 10 and class 12 signed an online petition demanding cancellation of boar exams 2021.

Several political parties, ministers and celebrities including Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and actor Sonu Sood have stood in support of student's demand.

However, responding to their appeal, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) earlier this month informed that the examinations will take place, but with all necessary arrangements in place.
