Bihar: BPSC 67th Combined Competitive Exam Cancelled After Paper Leak, Probe Underway

After a 3-member committee submitted a report in connection with 67th Combined Competition Exam, the exam was cancelled.

New Delhi: Due to a ‘question paper leak’, the Bihar Lok Seva Aayog announced that it has cancelled the 67th Combined (Preliminary) Competitive Examination of Bihar Public Service Commission which was to be held on Sunday and the matter is now under investigation. According to ANI, the exam was set to begin at 12 noon on May 8, when the question paper was released online from an exam centre and it went viral online within moments. A ruckus broke out at Arrah's Kunwar Singh College with students alleging the use of phones by a section of students during Bihar Public Service Commission on Sunday, ANI reported.

Bihar DGP SK Singhal said on Sunday that the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) will probe the BPSC question paper leak case. He added that a team of cyber cells operating under ADG, Economic Offence Unit has been formed and has started investigating. 

"The government has taken the matter seriously and action will be taken against the culprits," ANI quoted him as saying.

Meanwhile, "Exam to be cancelled after a 3-member committee submitted a report in connection with 67th Combined Competition Exam. Bihar DGP has been requested to get the 'question paper leak' matter probed by Cyber Cell", Bihar Public Service Commission had said, ANI reported.

An investigation has been ordered by the Bihar Public Service Commission after reports said that question papers were being sent via messaging services WhatsApp and Telegram and later came out on social media platforms.

Over six lakh candidates were to sit for the Bihar Public Service Commission on Sunday.

Politicians weigh in

Leader of Opposition, Tejaswi Yadav in support of the students, tweeted the Bihar Public Service Commission should change its name to Bihar Public Paper Leak Commission. 

“Bihar Public Service Commission, which ruined the lives of crores of youth and candidates of Bihar, should now be renamed as “Bihar Public Paper Leak Commission”.”

Vikas Insaan Party (VIP) chief and former Bihar minister Mukesh Sahni in a statement said that unemployment in Bihar is so high that most youths have to leave the state to find employment but such issues as paper leaks are the heights of corruption. 

VIP's national spokesperson Dev Jyoti said that when the students come out on the road with their demands, the government gets ready to lathi-charge. Today the government has put the future of lakhs of youths at stake, what will the government do now? He demanded and said that strict action should be taken against whoever is guilty in this case.
