Two students and another individual were injured during clashes that erupted at Jamia Millia Islamia University in Delhi on Friday. The altercation occurred around 8:25 pm near gate number 3 of the university, prompting police intervention. Reports indicate that the clashes involved current students, former students and other individuals.
"Three persons were injured in the fight that broke out between some students and ex-students at the Jamia Millia Islamia University on Friday. A rioting case has been registered under section 308 of the IPC and teams have been formed to catch the accused, the Police said.
Upon arrival at the scene, the Delhi Police initially encountered only bystanders. Subsequently, they were informed that three injured individuals from the clashes were undergoing treatment at AIIMS Trauma Centre and Holy Family Hospital. The Delhi Police confirmed the registration of a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the incident.
Further investigations uncovered that the clashes between students erupted over minor issues, escalating into violence due to the involvement of non-university individuals. Consequently, the university administration was instructed to restrict the entry of outsiders onto the campus.
Multiple teams were mobilized to apprehend the suspects.
3 Injured In Clashes Between Student Groups At JNU
The Delhi Police on Friday said that three students sustained injuries during a clash among Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) students in Delhi. The confrontation arose between members of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Left-wing organizations.
The dispute, reportedly ignited by disagreements over the selection process of election committee members at the School of Languages, escalated into violence. The clashes between the two factions occurred late Thursday night.
