Delhi Weather Update: Minimum Temperature At 20.4 Degrees Celsius, Cloudy Skies Predicted In Evening

The minimum temperature in Delhi on Tuesday was recorded at 20.4 degrees Celsius while there is a forecast for cloudy skies towards the later part of the day.

Delhi on Tuesday recorded a minimum temperature of 20.4 degrees Celsius and as per the forecast of the weather department, a partly cloudy sky will be seen towards the later part of the day. The relative humidity at 8:30 am was recorded at 48 per cent and the maximum temperature is likely going to hover around 36 degrees Celsius. As per Central Pollution Control Board, the Air Quality Index of Delhi was recorded in the 'moderate' category viz. at 157. An AQI between zero and 50 is considered 'good', 51 and 100 'satisfactory', 101 and 200 'moderate', 201 and 300 'poor', 301 and 400 'very poor', and 401 and 500 'severe'.

As per the data provided by the India Meteorological Department, the minimum temperature on Monday was recorded at 19 degrees Celsius which is four notches below normal. On Tuesday it rose to 20.4 degrees Celsius which is two notches below the season's average. 

No Heat Wave Conditions For A Week, Rainfall Predicted In Some Parts Of Country

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Monday that heat wave conditions are unlikely to return to most parts of India until the end of the month and that a fresh rain spell will begin in the northwest region on Friday. On Sunday, maximum temperatures in northwest, central, and east India ranged between 36 and 39 degrees Celsius, while the rest of the country was between 30 and 35 degrees Celsius, with the exception of the western Himalayan region, which was between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius, according to the MeT.

"No heatwave conditions are expected in the country over the next seven days," according to the weather service.

A new wet spell is expected to hit the western Himalayas on April 26 and the northwestern plains on April 28.

The IMD also forecasted a new round of thunderstorms or hailstorms from April 25 to April 27 over central Maharashtra, Telangana, and the southern districts of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. Thunderstorms and rain are expected to continue in Tamil Nadu and Kerala for the next 3-4 days.

Heavy rain is forecast for isolated areas in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu on April 24, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya on April 28, Kerala from April 24 to 27, and Telangana on April 27. Hailstorms are also possible in isolated areas across Telangana between April 24-26, central Maharashtra between April 25-27, south Chhattisgarh between April 25-26, and east Madhya Pradesh on April 26.
