Thunderstorms with light rain and gusty winds are expected to occur over and adjacent to a few places in North Delhi, North-East Delhi, North-West Delhi, and East Delhi, as well as parts of Haryana, in the next two hours, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Light to moderate rain fell in parts of Delhi and its surrounding areas on Sunday morning, providing relief from the hot weather.


In a tweet, IMD said, "Thunderstorm with light intensity rain and gusty winds with speed of 30-40 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of few places of North Delhi, North-East Delhi, North-West Delhi & East Delhi (Narela, Bawana, Alipur, Burari, Kanjhawala, Rohini, Badili, Model Town, Karawal Nagar, Azadpur, Pitampura, Civil Lines) and Rohtak, Sonipat, Kharkhoda (Haryana) during next 2 hours."



IMD Says Depression Over Arabian Sea Likely To intensify Into Cyclonic Storm In Next 12 Hours


The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday that a depression over the southeast Arabian Sea is likely to move north and intensify into a cyclonic storm.



In addition, westerly winds continue to prevail over the southern Arabian Sea. Westerly wind depth has increased from 1.5 to 4.5 km above mean sea level. Over Kerala, rainfall activity has increased slightly.


Meanwhile, the IMD forecasted light rain over the western Himalayan region on Sunday, providing a respite from the summer heat for the next four to five days.


IMD in a statement said: "Thunderstorms with light to moderate intensity rain and gusty winds with speed of 30-50 Km/h would occur over and adjoining areas of most places of Delhi (Safdarjung, Lodi Road, IGI Airport, Ayanagar), NCR (Loni Dehat, Bahadurgarh, Ghaziabad, Indirapuram, Chhapraula, Noida, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, Ballabhgarh) Sonipat, Rohtak, Kharkhoda, Charkhi Dadri, Mattanhail, Jhajjar, Farukhnagar, Kosali, Sohana, Palwal, Nuh, Aurangabad (Haryana)".


According to the weather service, moderate rain will fall in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan on Sunday. "Gulaoti, Sikandrabad, Bulandshahar, Jahangirabad, Shikarpur, Khurja, Pahasu, Debai, Gabhana, Jattari, Atrauli, Khair, Aligarh (U.P.) Bhiwari, Tizara (Rajasthan) during the next 2 hours", IMD said.
