AAP MP Swati Maliwal Gives Police Complaint Over Assault By Bibhav Kumar, Says 'BJP Should Not Do Politics Over It'

The complaint comes hours after senior Delhi Police officials visited the residence of Swati Maliwal. She was allegedly assaulted by Bibhav Kumar.

AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Thursday gave a Police complaint in the assault case against Bibhav Kumar, a report in ANI said.

The complaint comes hours after senior Delhi Police officials visited the residence of Swati Maliwal. She was allegedly assaulted by Bibhav Kumar, former PS of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

The Delhi Police team, led by Additional Commissioner of Police P S Kushwaha, was at AAP MP Swati Maliwal's residence for more than four hours.

Responding to the incident, Swati Maliwal said she has recorded her statement with the Delhi Police and the BJP should not indulge in politics over the incident.

"What happened to me was very bad. I have given my statement to the police on the incident that happened to me. I hope appropriate action will be taken. The past days have been very difficult for me. I thank those who prayed. Those who tried to indulge in character assassination, said that I was doing it at the behest of the other party, God bless them too," she said in a post on X in Hindi.

"The Rajya Sabha MP said crucial elections are going on now, and stressed that she is not important but the issues of the country are. There is a special request to the BJP people not to do politics on this incident," she said in the same post.

On Monday morning, Maliwal went to the Civil Lines police station in New Delhi and alleged that a member of Kejriwal's personal staff assaulted her at the chief minister's official residence, PTI quoted police officials as saying.

Earlier on Thursday, the National Commission for Women (NCW) summoned Bibhav Kumar over Maliwal's allegations. His hearing is scheduled for Friday at 11 am. On Tuesday, senior AAP leader Sanjay Singh had said that the incident with Maliwal was highly condemnable.
