New Delhi: Following the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann on Saturday said in solidarity with Kejriwal that if his Delhi counterpart is sent to jail, they will approach the court seeking permission to set up his office in prison to run his government from there. Punjab CM stressed that no one can take the place of Kejriwal in the AAP because he created the party out of the anti-corruption movement and is its senior founder member.
When asked about the arrest of the Delhi chief minister and AAP chief by the Enforcement Directorate in an excise policy case and how he will run his government if he is sent to judicial custody. He said, "It is not written anywhere that a government cannot run from jail", reported PTI.
"The law says he can work from jail till found guilty. We will seek permission from the Supreme Court, High Court for setting up office in the jail and the government will function," CM Mann added.

However, the BJP has demanded the resignation of Kejriwal after he was remanded in ED custody till March 28. The BJP criticised Arvind Kejriwal's decision to continue serving as the Chief Minister of Delhi despite being under arrest, saying, it is the most unfortunate moment in the country's political journey and worst kind of politics.
Notably, Delhi Chief Minister has moved the Delhi High Court to challenge his recent arrest and the remand order issued by the trial court on Friday. He contends that both his arrest and the subsequent remand order are illegal, and he is entitled to immediate release from custody. An urgent hearing has been sought from the Acting Chief Justice, preferably by Sunday, March 24.
