The stage has been set by India to host the world leaders during the 18th G20 Summit on September 9 and 10. Arrangements have been made at various fronts from security to logistics and more. As the first stop for the delegates after arriving in the country would be the airport, the Delhi airport operator DIAL said it was ready to welcome the guests. As per a PTI report, a team has been formed comprising senior officials to monitor the arrival and departure of operations during the summit.
"Delhi airport is all ready and very excited to welcome the guests who are coming to attend the G20 Summit. It is a privilege to be the gateway to India for most of the leaders and we have many of them from different parts of the world descending on India," Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, CEO, Delhi International Airport LTD (DIAL) told the news agency.
“We have made specific arrangements for all these guests. Most of the guests are arriving by chartered flights, or special VVIP flights. We have made arrangements for parking of these flights in collaboration with different government agencies like Delhi Police as well as the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security," he added.
Around 160 flights have been cancelled Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International due to the traffic restrictions imposed across the national capital in the wake of the upcoming Summit.
A spokesperson for Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) said that around 80 departing and as many arriving domestic flights are expected to be impacted due to flight cancellations given the G20 Summit over the coming three days.

DIAL also said that the airport is fully equipped with parking space for aircraft during the summit period, as per a Business Today report.
“So far, we have received requests for cancellation of approximately 80 departing and 80 arriving domestic flights over 3 days, which is mere 6 per cent of the normal domestic operations at Delhi Airport. The restrictions will not cause any impact on international flights. While we recognize that approximately 80 arrivals and 80 departures may be affected due to these cancellations, we are committed to working closely with airlines to minimize any inconvenience caused to passengers," said a DIAL spokesperson.
