Incessant rain has been lashing parts of Delhi for days. Such heavy downpours have led to the water level in Yamuna River breaking the record of 207.49 metres set 45 years ago, overflowing at 208.08 metres. This has affected several areas in the national capital, prompting evacuation. With this, the release of water from the Hathnikund Barrage has only worsened the situation. Visuals of some of the key areas of the national capital such as ITO, Kashmiri Gate, GT Karnal road, Old Yamuna Bridge, being flooded have surfaced on social media platforms. Here's a look at some of those visuals.
News agency ANI shared the first visual from the low-lying areas of the Kashmiri gate area where Delhiites were seen wading through knee-deep water.
The second visual surfaced from the Old Yamuna bridge which is also known as 'Loha Pul.' The water level in the river rose due to incessant rain which led to flooding in this area.
The third visual surfaced from Delhi's ITO which is a key route for people to commute from East Delhi to Central Delhi and Connaught Place.
The next visual shared by ANI was from GT Karnal road where one side of the road was completely flooded which affected the vehicular movement there.
Some of the most posh areas of the national capital such as Ring Road and Civil Lines have also been affected.
In all the visuals that surfaced on Thursday, Civil Lines seemed to be the worst affected area as people were standing in almost chest-deep water there.
