Delhi police on Saturday (August 5) received information about a group of individuals impersonating income tax officers to dupe a businessman. Acting promptly, the authorities launched an investigation that led to the arrest of four suspects involved in the case. The police are working to apprehend the remaining culprits, as confirmed by Vichitra Veer, DCP West District.


DCP West District told news agency ANI: "We recieved info that some people have duped a businessman, posing as income tax officers. We immediately took up the investigation and arrested four accused in connection with the case. further investigation to nab the other accused is underway".






In a harrowing incident, 7-8 unknown people posing as income tax officers broke into Ratan Sehgal's home. Sehgal said that when asked to show their identification, only one of them did so. Concerned about the situation, the family immediately notified the police, which resulted in the arrest of four suspects, he added.


The ordeal has left the family shaken, and shockingly, one police officer was also discovered to be a member of the fraudulent group, Sehgal said. The investigation is still ongoing in order to bring all individuals involved in this deceptive act to justice.


"Some 7-8 unknown people, posing as income tax officers, entered our house. On being asked for their IDs, only one person among them showed the ID. We informed the police about this incident and the police arrested four of them. The family is in shock. One police personnel was also there in the gang," Victim Ratan Sehgal was quoted as saying by ANI. 






"After about 10-15 minutes of waiting, they searched our house and found nothing. Then they told my mother that they were looking for money, and they left after searching the entire house," he said. 


"Then it occurred to us that if they had been Income Tax officers, they would not have gone. Then we called everyone and went to the police," Sehgal added.
