In the ongoing Global T20 Canada on Thursday, Vancouver Knights outplayed Toronto Nationals by 25 runs in the last league stage match. After being asked to bat first, the Knights scored a total of 128/7 in 20 overs with Corbin Bosch making 30 off 26 balls. In reply, the Nationals were restricted to just 103 runs as Harsh Thaker scalped a four-wicket haul. Even after losing the game, this game was special for former Pakistan legend Shahid Afridi, who shocked everyone by picking up two wickets.


During the 11th over of the match, former Pakistan spinner trapped Mohammad Rizwan, who wanted to go for a big hit but was caught by Farhan Malik at the deep mid-wicket. Afridi’s second wicket came in the 13th over when he dismissed Rassis van der Dussen for just 2 off 6 balls.






Speaking about the game, the Vancouver Knights had a tough day with the bat as apart from Corbin Bosch, no other batter stood there in the middle. Wicketkeeper Mohammed Rizwan also contributed by making 27 runs while Harsh Thaker collected 23. Afridi and Sikandar Raza picked up two wickets each for the Toronto Nationals and Farhan Malik took one wicket each.


In reply, the National batters kept losing wickets at regular intervals and were sent to the pavilion for just 103 runs. Darren Bravo made the most 28 runs while Nicholas Kirton made 19 runs. Harsh Thaker starred with the ball for the Knights by taking four wickets and Corbin Bosch took three.


Post this game, the Knights played against  Surrey Jaguars in the Qualifier 1 match of the G20 Canada 2023 and suffered a 38-run defeat. They will now be facing Montreal Tigers in Qualifier 2 and will fight for a place in the summit clash of the tournament.
