New Delhi: Four buses collided with three other vehicles on Monday at the Salimgarh flyover in central Delhi, injuring 24 schoolchildren who were on an educational trip, according to police, reported news agency PTI. The four buses that "accidentally" collided with a car, motorcycle, and autorickshaw contained 216 students. They claimed that 28 people were injured, including three school employees and a civilian.
Government Boys' Secondary School in C-Block Dilshad Garden, Government Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya in Khajoori, and Government Secondary School in Bhalaswa Village all rented the buses. According to Shweta Chauhan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central), they were on an educational tour to the zoo and Akshardham.
Around 11 a.m., the accident information reached the police. According to Chauhan, when they got there, they found a pile of four buses, an autorickshaw, a car, and a motorcycle.
According to another police officer with knowledge of the investigation, one of the bus drivers lost control of the vehicle and was unable to apply the brakes on time, resulting in the collision.
The accident resulted in injuries to nine boys from Government Boys' Secondary School - C-Block Dilshad Garden, ten girls from Government Sarvodaya Kanya Vidyalaya - Khajoori, and five boys from Government Secondary School - Bhalaswa Village. According to Chauhan, the incident also injured a biker and injured three staff members from Government Boys' Secondary School - C-Block Dilshad Garden, including a female teacher.

Students are seen allegedly escaping by jumping out of buses through the windows while onlookers lend a hand, according to a video that has been shared on social media.
As a result of the accident, there was a huge traffic jam in the area, which students and others who were watching made videos of. A senior police officer stated that the impact of the accident was such that all of the buses, cars, and autorickshaws involved were damaged.
One of the onlookers said, "It was a narrow escape for the students. The area witnessed traffic congestion since the morning and the accident compounded the situation. We saw several PCR (Police Control Room) vans at the spot and the injured were taken to hospitals." LNJP Medical Director Dr Suresh Kumar told PTI that all the injured people except one student had been discharged after primary treatment.
"One of the students, an 11-year-old boy, sustained bone injuries and is under observation. An X-ray has been done," he said.
According to the police, legal action is being taken in that direction.
