The weather in Delhi-NCR changed abruptly on Sunday (May 7), with parts of the national capital receiving light rain.
The India Meteorological Department took to Twitter to warn residents of Delhi-NCR about the expected impact of the sudden rains. Rain, according to the weather service, is likely to cause traffic congestion and slippery roads for residents.
Delhiites woke up to a pleasant Sunday morning, with the minimum temperature in the city settling at 21.4 degrees Celsius, four degrees below the season's average, IMD said.
According to the IMD, the relative humidity at 8:30 am was 60 per cent.
The weatherman had earlier predicted partly cloudy skies with light rain and drizzle in a few places throughout the day. The highest temperature expected to be around 37 degrees Celsius.
Rains lashed several parts of Delhi earlier on Saturday, with the minimum temperature settling at 20.1 degrees Celsius, four degrees below normal, according to the India Meteorological Department. The relative humidity was measured at 63%.
The Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi was recorded as 'poor' (239) around 9:00 am, according to Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) data. An AQI of zero to 50 is considered "good," 51 to 100 "satisfactory," 101 to 200 "moderate," 201 to 300 "poor," 301 to 400 "very poor," and 401 to 500 "severe."
