Delhi Police Heightens Security Ahead Of New Parliament Building Inauguration

The security around the new Parliament building ahead of its inauguration has been beefed up in the wake of a call for Mahila Panchayat by protesting wrestlers against WFI chief.

The Delhi Police has beefed up security around the new Parliament building which is scheduled to be inaugurated tomorrow, Sunday with 70 police personnel deployed in the area. Special Commissioner of Police Deepender Pathak said that enough deployment will be made for maintaining the law and order situation during tomorrow’s event, as per a report by news agency ANI. "Our focus is to maintain the law and order situation and carry out the program tomorrow. We will ensure enough police deployment for tomorrow's event," he said

As per the report, the Delhi Police has received inputs that some miscreants may put up “anti-national and anti-PM” slogans on the walls of the campus on the day of the inauguration.

Therefore, the police have decided to deploy heavy security around the new parliament building throughout the 24 hours.

The Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) rank officers are also continuously monitoring the whole situation through CCTV surveillance, the report added.

On Friday, the Delhi Police decided to close all borders in order to prevent any protest or gathering, reported the news agency.

The decision to step up the security has been taken in the wake of a call by Khap Panchayat for a Mahila Panchayat in support of the protesting wrestlers against Wrestling Federation of India President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in front of the new Parliament building on May 28.
