Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi on Sunday assured that the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will work towards removing mini garbage mountains in the national capital and will beautify those areas. The statement comes as the MCD has begun a cleanliness campaign 'Ab Delhi hogi saaf' to clean all 250 wards of the city. According to news agency PTI, Oberoi said that mini garbage mountains come up in some places as people throw garbage there. "We will remove those mountains and beautify those areas," she added.

The Delhi Mayor informed that teams have been formed to survey areas and upload pictures on the MCD app after which those parts of the national capital will be cleaned.

"Under the BJP, Delhi got three garbage mountains in 15 years. Cleaning Delhi was one of the 10 guarantees of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Today is the second day of the 'Ab Dilli Hogi Saaf' campaign," she said, as quoted by PTI.

According to her, the civic body's campaign will run through the year.

Launching the citywide cleanliness drive on Saturday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said the campaign will definitely be successful and make the national capital neat and clean.

"Many many congratulations and best wishes for starting the mega cleanliness campaign by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) -- ab Delhi hogi saaf. I have full hope that this campaign will definitely be successful and our Delhi will become neat and clean," Kejriwal said in a Hindi post on X in response to a post by Durgesh Pathak, an AAP MLA, and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi in-charge.
