Weather Update: Dense To Very Dense Fog Reported In Delhi After Two Days Of Rain Spell

Parts of Delhi woke up to dense to very dense fog, which affected train and flight operations.

After two days of rain, Delhi was covered in dense fog on Friday morning affecting visibility in several areas and causing disruptions in flight and train services. Very dense to dense fog was recorded in isolated parts of Delhi and Haryana. Some parts of Delhi experienced near zero visibility, early in the morning. 

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), today the visibility recorded was equal to or less than 500 metres in Delhi’s Palam recording 25, Safdarjung recording 50.

Flight operations at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport were disrupted due to the dense fog. 

People near the New Delhi Railway Station area were seen sitting near a fire to protect themselves from the biting cold, as per ANI. 

Meanwhile, dense fog was reported from isolated pockets of Rajasthan, East Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, moderate fog in isolated pockets of West Bengal. Visibility in Haryana’s Hissar-25, in Rajasthan’s Ganganagar-200, Jaipur-500. In East Uttar Pradesh Gorakhpur-200, Sultanpur, Varanasi-500 each meanwhile, in Bihar Purnea-50, Gaya, Bhagalpur - 500 each Jharkhand: Ranchi-200,  West Bengal: Kolkata-500 and Odisha: Jharsuguda, Chandbali- 200 each.

On Thursday, Delhi experienced a minimum temperature of 12.3 degrees Celsius, according to ANI, while the maximum temperature reached 18.6 degrees Celsius. Delhi's main weather station, Safdarjung, recorded 26.5 mm of precipitation between 8:30 AM on Wednesday and 8:30 PM on Thursday. The national capital recorded 0.6 mm of rainfall between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM on Thursday.

The Weather department has predicted another Western Disturbance on Saturday, and light rain and thunderstorms with lightning between Friday and Sunday, reported PTI.
