New Delhi: Amidst the fervor of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections in Delhi, the political temperature rises as the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) accuses the Tihar Jail administration of obstructing Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's wife, Sunita Kejriwal, from meeting her husband. Originally scheduled for Monday, the meeting was abruptly cancelled by the Tihar Jail administration, with AAP alleging no explanation was provided for the cancellation.

"On the instructions of the Modi government, the Tihar Jail administration cancelled Sunita Kejriwal's meeting with her husband Arvind Kejriwal. Modi government is crossing all limits of inhumanity. An elected Chief Minister is being treated like a terrorist. Modi government should tell the people of the country why it is not allowing Sunita Kejriwal to meet her husband Arvind Kejriwal," the party posted on X.

Tihar Administration Cites Atishi, Mann's Meeting As Reason

According to sources from Tihar Jail, Atishi is slated to visit the jail on Monday for a meeting with Arvind Kejriwal, followed by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann the next day. Due to this scheduling, Sunita Kejriwal's meeting with her husband was postponed.

The Tihar administration clarified that Sunita Kejriwal will be permitted to meet Arvind Kejriwal after these two meetings have taken place. It is noted that as per jail regulations, only two individuals are allowed to meet Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in jail per week. Two individuals can meet a prisoner at a time and a maximum of four visitors are permitted in a week.
