Delhi Rouse Avenue Court on Monday extended the judicial custody of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal till April 23, 2024, in connection with the money laundering case related to the now-scrapped excise policy, news agency ANI reported. Kejriwal attended the court session via video conferencing. The court observed that the judicial custody of co-accused K Kavitha is also extended until April 23.
Earlier, in a major bow to Kejriwal, the Supreme Court on Monday deferred the plea of Kejriwal till April 29. The apex court further asked the Enforcement Directorate (ED) to file its response on or before April 24.

Currently, the 55-year-old Aam Aadmi Party convenor is lodged in the Jail number 2 in the Tihar prison complex.
On March 22, the trial court remanded CM Kejriwal to six days of ED custody, which was extended by an additional four days. On April 1, he was then remanded to judicial custody.

On April 10, the Delhi High Court dismissed Kejriwal's plea challenging his arrest. The court noted that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had presented sufficient evidence, including statements from approvers and AAP's own candidate, indicating that Kejriwal had received kickbacks for the Goa assembly elections.
Previously, CM Kejriwal had skipped nine summons issued by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). AAP leaders Manish Sisodia and Sanjay Singh are also implicated in the case.

While Sisodia remains in prison, Singh was recently granted bail by the Supreme Court following a concession made by the central probe agency.
