Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, issued a statement on Sunday in response to a BJP leader who posted on Twitter grade sheets of students who performed poorly. If some of the children are struggling academically, additional classes will be set up for them.
Kejriwal tweeted, "One of these children will become the prime minister of the country in future and we do not want anyone to become PM in future with a fake degree."
The chief minister issued the statement in response to BJP spokesperson Harish Khurana's posting of government school students' mark sheets, in which he claimed that more than 1 lakh children fail Class 9 annually. The Delhi Congress had previously demanded an investigation into claims that teachers in Delhi government schools were "forced" to write "answers on blank exam papers" for students in Class 9 and 11.
Responding to Kejriwal's tweet, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari wrote, "Chief Minister himself has accepted his failure, since last 8 years lakhs of children are failing .. and the Chief Minister of his department is unable to come out of Twitter, Just keep telling lies in the liquor policy.. Challenge is tell me where are you putting extra class?"
Meanwhile, Kejriwal on the other hand said that Manish Sisodia, who would wake up at six every morning and go on their inspection, was the only person who could have helped transform Delhi government schools over the past eight years.
The statement was made by Kejriwal as he laid the foundation stone for the new building blocks for Rajkiya Sarvodaya Kanya/Bal Vidyalaya in East Vinod Nagar. He said the school will look like Columbia University after it is fully constructed.
Kejriwal stated, "They (Centre) jailed Manish Sisodia accusing him of corruption." in reference to the former education minister. He is the same leader who once visited schools at six in the morning.
He stated that corrupt leaders do not inspect schools at six in the morning.
"Students of Delhi government schools are excelling in academics. They are even clearing competitive exams and becoming doctors, engineers, and police officers.
"There is one man behind this education transformation and he is Manish Sisodia," Kejriwal said.
